Image question

Hello,

I recently encountered an MP3 file that contained a 20k jpg image inside the
ID3 frames. The ID3v2 header indicated that it was about 2k in total size.
The image was properly encoded in a APIC frame.

My question is: shouldn't the ID3v2 header include the length of the image
as well?

Thank you,

Pascal

Hello Pascal,
My question is: shouldn’t the ID3v2 header include the length of the image
as well?
Definitely! The size encoded in the ID3v2 header includes the size of
the extended header (if any), size of padding, and the size of all
frames (including APIC) inside the ID3v2 tag.

So it seems that your file was tagged by a broken editor. If you
remember which tool you've used, please take the time and notify the
respective developer.

Kind regards,
Florian
